About Vladimir Draft horse

A heavy horse was required for plowing heavy loams. In horse-drawn transport, the ability of horses to carry a heavy load was of great importance.
1946 year

The Vladimir breed was officially registered in 1946, but work on its creation began much earlier. At the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, in the districts of Vladimir Opole, directed work was carried out to develop a new breed. A significant role in its creation was played by stallions imported from abroad by the Clydesdale and Shire (to a lesser extent) breeds.

1959 year
For the more effective development and improvement of the breed in 1959, two elite farms were formed - the stud farms Gavrilovo-Posadsky and Yuryev-Polsky.

Gavrilovo-Posadsky stud farm became the successor of the breeding nursery and received a "rich inheritance": an excellent livestock of horses and a magnificent complex of stable buildings erected in the late 18th century by the project of the well-known architect Peter Eropkin.

Old buildings
Founded by Ivan the Terrible in 1564, under Catherine the Great, he received his modern building - a closed perimeter of stables with a covered arena, a turret above the entrance gates and the figure of a horse on a spire.

The modern Gavrilovo-Posad tribal stud farm was established in 1959 on the basis of the subsidiary farm of the Gavrilovo-Posad state plant for breeding the Vladimir heavy-horse breed of horses.

Unlike Gavrilovo-Posadsky, Yuryev-Polsky plant was created almost from scratch, from the liquidated training and experimental farm of Ivanovo Agricultural Institute there were only simple wooden stables. The number of horses in the plant was collected from various farms and the main stock consisted of horses of horse breeding farms in Vladimir region.
2013 year
In 2013, Gavrilovo-Posad stud farm was disbanded, but work with the breed is still carried out today — the horses were moved to the farm next door. Yuryev-Polsky Plant (PKZ Monastyrskoe Podvorye) also continues its work.

Well, to the other side of our vast homeland - in Ussuriysk, we breed Vladimir heavy-duty trucks in the Novonikol stud farm.
In addition to stud farms, a fine livestock is also collected from private breeders - the largest of which are PF Vavaev A.Yu in Moscow Region, Farmers' Farm of Goltsova NN. in Leningrad region, IP Pirogov in Chelyabinsk region, PC "Cappadocia in Vladimir region.

There are also a number of owners with a pedigree of less than 10 breeding mares, which also influence the breed and contribute to its conservation: Domanina MK, Kozlov V.V., Emelyanov N.I., Lazarev VM, Gusev E.A. .

Separately there is a GZK named after VIFomin (formerly GZK Vladimirskaya) in Vladimir, which is a breeding ground for stallions.
